The Clara Eitmann Messmer Amphitheatre was dedicated Monday, May 31, 2006, located on Gutenberg Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets. The amphitheatre is happening because of a generous donation from Clara Messmer. It was out of the desire and generosity of Mrs. Messmer, who wanted to return something to Hermann, that this facility has become a reality. The retired school teacher once said she was never a musician, but like going to band concerts like the ones put on by the local band. The theatre will feature lawn seating only. Attendees will be encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Persons are also invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy before the performances. The 2006 concert program will be under the auspices of the Hermann Arts Council.
